I love my internship. I help manage seven Facebook pages for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating and curating content, promoting department-wide campaigns and spearheading digital initiatives for the four magazines of the Church. One recent highlight from my job was that I had the opportunity to meet former American Idol, David Archuleta.

Well, at least it should be. Put simply, public relations is all about creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships. PR is about understanding your key publics and trying to build trust.
When I was little, the sky was the limit. I could invent whatever I wanted and my parents would always encourage me to keep on creating. I was one of those kids who liked to color outside the lines and had a great sense of imagination. I also believed that I would someday be able to fly just like Superman.
My dear friend Paige Weber shared with me a valuable piece of advice about a month ago. It wasn’t anything foreign to me, it was just that it had never come across my mind before. Like the adage, “Keep it Simple Stupid”, Weber’s advice was similar.
Social media is much more than just noise. A Chipotle Facebook event proves it.
Often times, individuals associate the word “noise” with social media. There are countless articles that can attest to this. Their titles read, “There are 2 ways to cut through the noise on Social Media. Only one works,” and “How to Filter Out the Noise as a Community Manager.”
